X-Men Approach’s to The iPhone
Comics on the iPhone were never going to take off without either Marvel or DC getting involved. Sure, there are plenty of great indie publishers, but getting the big boys on board adds some legitimacy, deserved or not. And so at last Marvel has signed up with Comics, Gadget Lab’s favorite comic book app for the iPhone .
Along with Joss Whedon’s Astonishing X-Men, you can also buy Captain America, Marvel Zombies, X-23 and the incredibly lamely-named X-Men: Age of Apocalypse. Issues are $2 each and presumably can be read using the Comics app’s neat “guided scrolling” feature, which walks you through a page a frame at a time. I say presumably because this deal is US-only, and therefore counts as yet another triumph of idiotic regional licensing over common sense. It also means I can’t buy any Marvel titles.
Also, that price is way off. $2 for a download when I can buy the actual paper comic book for $3? Way to send people to BitTorrent, Marvel.
