Toshiba could launch the finish line of tablets early subsequent year
Toshiba is already selling its first Android tablet, the 10 inch Toshiba Folio 100 in some parts of the globe. Now DigiTimes reports that Toshiba plans to expand its tablet line in the first quarter of 2011.
There will reportedly be three different models, including two 10.1 inch tablets and one 11.6 inch tablet. One will reportedly run Windows 7, another Google Android, and the third Google Chrome OS.
Toshiba will also reportedly launch 7 inch tablets down the road, but DigiTimes reports that those devices will be coming from Toshiba’s phone division rather than the PC division, which would suggest that they’ll have at least some mobile phone-like capabilities.
For what it’s worth, Samsung’s phone division handles the Samsung Galaxy Tab, not the PC division — even though the US version of the Galaxy Tab cannot make phone calls. So I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for a Toshiba tablet that makes phone calls. The 7 inch model may simply come with 3G or 4G options.
