Qualcomm: Scorpio twice as fast Tegra 2
If we believe Qualcomm, dual-core processor Scorpio is much faster than Tegra 2. As stated by representatives of Qualcomm at the Mobile World Congress 2011 (MWC '11) in a conversation with Fudzilla, Scorpio is two times more powerful than offspring of NVIDIA, when it comes to handling graphics. Recall that the Scorpio has integrated graphics Adreno 220, and its delivery, in theory, should begin soon. At least, that's says Qualcomm.
As expected, Scorpio will be used in the 60 new products that will be released in the first half of this year. Apparently, this is a very worthy competitor Tegra 2, but it is unclear whether Qualcomm win this round in the fight against NVIDIA. The fact that many products based on the Tegra 2 ready, and their delivery to begin in March. Also, do not forget that NVIDIA intends to bring to market Tegra 3 in August. As for Qualcomm, it made clear that its new 2 – and 4-core processors will be released in early 2012. They will be manufactured on 28 nm process technology.
It only remains to add that the Adreno is nothing like a mobile graphics processor Imageon, developed by AMD / ATI. It was bought by Qualcomm for $ 65 million and was subsequently renamed Adreno. At the moment it is one of the major trumps Qualcomm in fight for leadership in the mobile GPU.
