Intel: The first smartphone based on Medfield will appear in the III quarter
The first smartphone with Atom Medfield processors from Intel, are likely to appear in the III quarter, reports Fudzilla. And to be precise, they will be issued in the period from July to September this year, added the Austrians. The first samples will be optimized to work with the Android OS, but with a version of it, yet unknown to us.
According to Fudzilla, the first samples of Medfield will be made on 32 nm process technology. For comparison, the majority of processors for mobile devices yet produced on 45 nm process technology. Although the drivers for Android OS will be available in the III quarter, Medfield learn to work with MeeGo only in the I quarter of 2012. As it turned out, the mobile operating system is still "raw", though it the brainchild of native Intel.
