Nintendo’s been doing a bit of digging and it tur ns out it’s already won the console wars. If we’re only talking about the ladies, that is. A whopping 80% of American female primary gamers (the person who primarily uses the co nsole rather than the occasional dabblers) do their thing on the Wii, which we see as a clear indication to the graphics-obsessed Xbox 360 and PS3 developers that women prefer their gam es to be fun to play, rather than just look at. Maybe if we also stopped dressing female characters in swimsuits, they’d find non-Wii games relatable too — that’s just a guess though, probably wrong.

You know, we’ve pretty much all been enamored with the Zune HD’s industrial design, but one unintended co nsequence for Microsoft was that it made its console look even more childish and toylike. It was inevitable, then, that a group of industrious Swedes would take up arms against this injustice and right the world with their Elegant Edition mod. Featuring three 120mm cooling fans, an aesthetic borrowed straight from the 1980s, and absolutely no shame abou t its bulk, this mod is cooler than the original in both the literal and colloquial sense. We’ll accept no arguments to the converse. Better still, if you’re willing to part with some cold ha rd cash, these fellas will bu ild one for you too. Datel sues Microsoft, wants its Xbox 360 market-place invest in

Seems like we just can’t go a week without some corporate power plays or mudslinging making our pages. Back in October, Datel promised it would “remedy” the situation created by Microsoft’s forthcoming (now present) Dashboard update locking out its higher capacity memory modules. The accessory company was the first (and only) third-party supplier of memory cards for the X box 360, but it seems that MS took a dislike to the MicroSD-expandable Max Memo ry units and has since taken the unusual step of downgrading the console to being able to read only chips up to 512MB, essentially taking Datel’s 2G B+ wares out of commission. Y eah, classy. Datel’s retaliation is in the finest Anglo-Saxon legal tradition, namely to assert antitrust concerns and to claim its right to act as a competitor to Microsoft in the memory market for Redmond’s own console. It all sounds rather silly to us too, and could probably have been avoided by a rational compromise, but what’s the fun in that?

The first MW2 Xbox 360 I got came with a broken face plate so it took me a couple days to get a replacement. If you haven’t heard of this version before it’s actually a really great deal if your are in the market for a new Xbox 360.

It comes wi th this limited edition gun metal colored Xbox with appropriate military markings (sorry no Oscar Mike), a 250 Gb Hard Drive, two black wireless controllers, a new headset communicator (the older ones are better), a copy of the standard version of MW2, and hook up cables. Note that t his edition does NOT come with an HDMI cable.

If you do the math, the $400 pri ce tag actually works in your favor. You have to speculate the price on the 250GB HD given the f act that Microsoft sells the 120GB HD for $150. Awesome deal.
